Radio Interview with Rare Standard
by Robo Robb on Aug.17, 2011, under Adventures
This was my first interview with a Jazz group. I’ve interviewed Jazz singers who have their own take on Jazz but this was the first time I had a legit jazz group come through and bless the airwaves in front of me. Their name is Rare Standard and I had the pleasure of meeting their sax player a few months ago. He nonchalantly told me he was just starting a jazz group. Now when I hear “just starting a band” I automatically think “OK I’ll see these guys in a few years…. Nope. These guys were like ready to rock out of the gate. There is a live performance at the end of the interview so take a listen and as always enjoy!

Radio Interview with Drew32
by Robo Robb on Aug.16, 2011, under Hip-Hop
I don’t even think I have to write much about this young fella. If I ever had a full length cartoon movie created after the adventures of Robo-Robb, and I fully intend on it, Drew32 would be my sidekick. Kind of like the Jr. Wall-E robot in the Wall-E movie. Drew is a stand up dude and he also can rap. If any of you “purists” have an issue with the kid come have a chat with me so I can enlighten you. I’m going to let the dudes radio play, blog buzz and magazine love stand for itself… Drew32 is one of the next big things out of Metro Detroit, if not ‘the next big thing’. Take a listen to the interview.

Radio Interview with Ihsaan Ali
by Robo Robb on Aug.16, 2011, under Adventures
I was dropping off my work one day at FedEx, this past spring, and ritualistically went to Biggby to get myself a Teddy Bear Latte as a reward. I walked in and there was this dude sitting with a home computer, not just any home computer, this was like a 27 inch display. So I sparked up a conversation with him and found out he was a musician making a benefit project for autism. I told him I had an opening on my radio show if he would like to come by and speak with me about the project. Without a further question I had thrown it in my calendar, just like that. This interview turned out to be really insightful and not only was I further educated on autism, I think many of my listeners got a lot out of it too. Take a listen and enjoy!

Radio Interview with Shotgun Soul
by Robo Robb on Aug.09, 2011, under Rock, Soul
I met Robby a long time ago when he was still a young lad and I was just beginning my undergrad. Last year a friend brought me to an Imagine Nation concert where I was reintroduced to Robby. A few months ago I got a call from him saying he was no longer in his old band and would like to have his new band on my show. Well, we made it happen and Robby and the gang came on my show to speak about their projects. Ladies and Gents I present to you Shotgun Soul, enjoy!

My interview with Sleigh Bells
by Robo Robb on Aug.01, 2011, under Electronic, Rock
One day I got and e-mail from Rob St. Mary (WDET 101.9FM Detroit) asking me if I would be interested in interviewing Sleigh Bells. I looked them up and took a listen, sure why not they sounded pretty sweet. I wouldn’t say this is my biggest interview, in my opinion, but my listeners have different ideas about that. This was a truly a great experience and the concert was awesome. Take a listen and enjoy!

Interview with Rye Bread and Blake Lung
by Robo Robb on Aug.01, 2011, under Hip-Hop
So MC Pig Pen was back in Detroit again for the third time in under a year with Pat Maine, Rye Bread and Blake Lung. I went to check out their show at the Berkley Front the night before and we were going to get a late night meal, before they disappeared. The next morning I woke up early and got a hold of the touring crew and we did breakfast, instead, at the National Coney Island in Royal Oak joined by the always lovely Jane Fader. A funny story about Blake Lung. I had just got into Austin for SXSW and there was this dude standing with me at the bus stop. After waiting 20 minutes for the bus, the bus arrives and this guy asks me if I had change for a $20, unfortunately I did not or I would have helped the young man out. That dude was… Blake Lung, later that night Kosha Dillz introduced me to him formally outside the Shinobi Ninja show. Take a listen to our interview over breakfast.

Interview with The Macpodz
by Robo Robb on Aug.01, 2011, under Adventures, Folk, Rock, Soul
Recently I took a new job and it keeps me on the road many days a year. Sometimes I find myself in the most boring small towns imaginable. One such town was Mt. Pleasant, unless you are a college kid looking to get drunk there really isn’t much to do in this town. After dinner one night this spring I decided to take a stroll through down town, which shuts down earlier than Flint. I looked down one side street and saw a marquee for a small venue and the name “The Macpodz”, in movable letters, indicated that they were playing that night. Having no way to get a hold of them, seeing as how I have never met them before, I left them a note with the lady tending the bar saying to give me a call if they’d like to do an impromptu interview that night. An hour later back at the hotel I got a call from Brennan of the Macpodz and we made the interview happen. This is what great interviews are made of take an unedited listen to the whole interview here. Enjoy!
