SXSW Interview with Mazzi

by on May.26, 2012, under Hip-Hop

I walked into a bar, off of 6th Street in Austin, during SXSW this year because I heard a song that I liked (insert good punch line), and I met this rapper named Mazzi. Little did I know that the world was very small because he knew everyone I know. Mazzi works with Palestinian youth in refugee camps and his musical aspirations are fueled by charity. This dude is a great guy and I think you should check out more from him, I know I will be staying up to date with his endeavors.

SXSW Interview with Hey Chica!

by on May.26, 2012, under Folk, Rock

Hey Chica is one of the friendliest bands you will ever meet. If I ever head to Mexico I am hiring them all as my tour guides and we will explore far and wide. Hey Chica is from Guadalajara and have very unique perspectives of the drug war Americans often hear about on the nightly news. They also have fantastic shoes! Take a listen to our conversation and enjoy!

SXSW Interview with Kyle Rapps

by on May.26, 2012, under Hip-Hop

I first met Kyle in 2011 at SXSW during a Binary Star show. I had wanted to interview him then but it never happened. This year I ran into him again at a Kosha Dillz showcase at SXSW and I made it a point to connect with him the next day, again, that also didn’t happen. Later that night I was checking out Talib Kweli and I head Kweli shout out Kyle Rapps, sure enough Kyle was standing on stage with him. We finally were able to link up and have a great conversation about growing up poor in Princeton, bogus revolutionaries, and rental cars. Take a listen and enjoy!
