My Story/ Interview with Stephanie of Tonks and the Aurors

by Robo Robb on Oct.12, 2009, under Arts, Rock, journalism

This summer I was very busy collecting stories that I could air on WXOU in the Fall to help our news director out. My home girl Kirby “Kirbalicious” Hairston host of the 1 o’clock take over suggested I do a story on Wizard Rock. I had previously never even heard of such a thing and was intrigued enough to google “Wizard Rock Michigan” and the first group that popped up was Tonks and the Aurors. After sending a myspace message to Stephanie (the founder of Tonks and the Aurors) in the matter of just a few days I was making a trip to the lovely city on Ann Arbor to interview her. Below you will find the story I produced on Wizard Rock and beneath that is the full unedited interview for all of you who would like to know more! Enjoy!

Book Review: “Fuming At The Sheep” by Dan Kennedy

by Robo Robb on Sep.07, 2009, under Arts, media analysis

I have been trying to get a copy of this book for the past couple weeks and finally my homie Dan Kennedy was kind enough to send me a PDF with the whole book. I have known Dan for a couple years now from the local music scene in Michigan. He is a very talented guitar player, singer and song writer. If you ever get a chance to hit up one of his shows do yourself a favor and go out he might even cover “remix to ignition” by R. Kelly, my personal favorite.

His latest endeavor is a novel titled “Fuming At The Sheep”. This book from the get go is unmistakeably written by a lyricist. The wordplay and imagery are outstanding. In the opening chapter you have a very descriptive scene where the main character Kyle is contemplating his future and what he will tell his parents about the decision he has made to not use his degree on his life’s journey. This story is to be read keeping in mind the confusion of a 20 something year old. Without giving away to much of the story I will say this, Kyle meets many colorful characters. Working as a bartender he has encounters with just about every walk of life imaginable and this factor is expounded upon throughout his self discovery. I would highly recommend this book for any person at a transitional stage in their life. I thought the ending was extremely creative and was impressed by the skill applied in order to tie everything together. Overall I was very surprised by Dans work on this story and hope he continues writing novels. If you would like to purchase this book it can be found at amazon.com or his record labels site 54amrecords.com.

Radio Interview with Cotton Lilly

by Robo Robb on Sep.03, 2009, under Adventures, Arts, Folk

If you have never been to a Cotton Lilly show you are seriously missing out. They bring a whole suitcase of instruments and encourage the audience to play along with them. Check out Cotton Lilly as they take the folk scene by storm. This has to be one of my favorite performances from my show. Also, check them out cause me and Janet Lilly used to date one another!

My purpose in life

by Robo Robb on Jul.30, 2009, under Arts, Soul

I am a new college graduate and have become obsesed with finding my purpose in life. I am also busy trying to reach my goal of doing 100 interviews in 1 year.

One night a few weeks ago I was watching Larry King, just like tonight. He was being interviewed on his own show cause he just put out a book. He said he has done 40,000 interviews… What the hell! This dudes like 300 years old seriously. After seeing this I decieded to set a life long goal to interview people until I’m 62.

This goal was added to my list of personal goals I have for myself on my “bucket list”. A couple weeks after that I came to the realization that I am probally having the best time of my life. So my ultimate goals of comfort dealing with wealth and relationships started to seem pointless to me. I then shifted my goals to achieving my life long goals list , now! Without hesitation I will begin doing these things on my list begining today.

Just a couple days ago I finally realized my true purpose in life. I was put here to make people feel important. I never knew that something like that was a talent but I guess it is. Through my interviews and interactions with other I am able to really make people feel good about themselves. So from tonight on I will do my best to hype you up in all you glory! Let’s go people!

Robo
