In 2012, an old friend (whose name is Chad Kush) hit me up to get a group he was working with on my show, I gladly obliged. After all, that is what I do. I sat down with Chavis Chandler, A Minus, Melinda, Jimmy Stoner, and Nolan the Ninja and we had a great discussion. Since we spoke I have seen these guys everywhere. This Fall, while I was hanging out on Reggae Revolver with SAC, I received a call from someone who said they were Hollywood Street Savage’s cousin. While I couldn’t promise I’d play his song I did follow up and interviewed him later that month. Here is that interview.

Mz Jonz is one of the most fantastic people to know in Detroit. If you are in the Metro Detroit area and have yet to catch her live or even just introduce yourself I believe you are doing yourself a disservice. I met with Mz Jonz in Ferndale one day this summer and was able to chop it up with her about everything from living overseas to living in Detroit. I mean what I say… there are few people you will find in this city that are genuinely as nice as Mz Jonz. Take a listen and let me know what you think!

I walked into the Pike Room in Pontiac and the first stop I made was to the merch table and these three rappers from all across North America were sitting down peddling their wares. I decided to kidnap one of them at a time and speak with them about their craft. The first interview on my Nerdcore adventure was with Tribe One. This dude is a librarian and he also taught me how to correctly pronounce librarian. He is part of a larger hip-hop collective that does not identify as Nerdcore. Tribe One has an interesting song that is dedicated to Steve Irwin. Take a listen to the interview and enjoy!

The last person I interviewed on the night I took my Nerdcore adventure was the big homie Jesse Dangerously. This dude is legitimately a hip-hop theorist. I want you to listen to the way that he speaks about hip-hop. If I were to write a scholarly work on Nerdcore I would probably use his definitions to help me in my pursuit. Jesse is an old soul in this game and has some very fascinating stories to share with his audience. This might be one of the best interviews I had the pleasure of participating in during 2012. Early this fall I caught news of some Nerdcore artists rolling through the city. I had never met Nerdcore artists and people have been telling me that I was a Nerdcore artist. I decided to drop by and see what these dudes were all about. I spoke with Adam for a while and got to pick his brain. The theme you will see running through all the Nerdcore interviews that I conducted on this night is me trying to flesh out a crowd sourced definition of Nerdcore. Take a listen and enjoy!

I got to sit down with Warren Peace on Woodward Avenue over the summer. The atmosphere in this interview is fantastic: barking dogs, phone call interruptions, and hot rods racing down Woodward. I first met Warren Peace last winter when he was throwing a benefit concert to build a school… a school? I had to speak with the dude. In 2009, I sat down with Tasherre and we did a fantastic interview. It has been 3 years since this interview but I have finally been able to salvage it from the computer crisis I had back in the summer of 2009. Tasherre and I had met back in 2006 in Lansing at the Code of the Cutz shop. Tasherre has since become a good friend and is also a radio host as well. I got to speak with Fatt Father, after many rescheduling attempts, this summer. He is one of the funniest people I follow on twitter and I’m glad he was willing to converse with me on some more serious topics during this interview. That does not mean that he wasn’t also hilarious, because he was most certainly was. This conversation took many roads but they all came back to fatherhood.
