SXSW Interview with Sugar Glyder (circa 2011)

by on May.12, 2013, under Rock

As I was preparing to interview Sugar Glyder for the third time I realized that I never archived our last conversation. Here is the interview I did with them back in 2011, in Austin, at SXSW. There are some incredible stories about touring that begin about eight minutes in. I really enjoy this interview and I believe you will too.

Interview with Jason Stollsteimer from the Hounds Below

by on Dec.26, 2012, under Rock

I got to grab lunch with Jason the week his band, The Hounds Below, released their latest album. It was truly an honor to be able to talk so candidly with such an accomplished Detroit musician. I think you will appreciate this conversation as much as I did. Take a listen and enjoy.

Interview with Steven from My Excuse

by on Sep.21, 2012, under Rock

This summer I got to interview Steven from My Excuse across the street from the Palace of Auburn Hills. Supposedly this was the bands first English Language interview, it always feels great to be a first at something! My homie Bill from the Static Dial who is intertwined with the Greek Community in Southeast Michigan was able to make this happen and I am glad he did. Steven shares some interesting insights into his view of the States and his view of Greece, as a American Greek living in Greece (I think that’s how you word it? He was born in America and grew up in Greece… so he’s an American Greek, right?). These guys rock in concert and their experience really shows. There is a reason they are one of the biggest groups in Greece!

Radio Interview with Odd Hours

by on Sep.03, 2012, under Rock

This summer I sat down with Natasha, Tim, and Mike at the station and not only did I get to discuss their music and their lives at length I also received my own personal concert. This was not just any personal concert. This was a concert that was rehearsed for my radio show (due to the limitations of our station when accommodating live performances). I was impressed. I have also grown quite fond of their Lo-Fi sound that works its way into my iPod shuffle on occasion. Take a listen I’m sure you will enjoy them as much as I did!

Radio Interview with The Static Dial

by on Jul.13, 2012, under Rock

I met Bill almost a year ago when I was canvasing the city of Troy Michigan during one of my hustles. Bill was tending shop and we started talking. I came to find out that he teaches guitar lessons out of the back of his shop, and is also in a band. We eventually set up an interview and he brought his band to the radio station. Take a listen to the discussion that ensued. Enjoy!

Interview with Peelander Yellow

by on Jul.08, 2012, under Rock

The first time I heard Peelander Z I had to interview them. Unfortunately I was not able to interview the band but I was able to interview Peelander Yellow (who is usually the one who fields all the questions directed towards the band). Down in Austin this year, Peelander Green was standing line behind me at Easy Tiger while I was waiting on a nice soft pretzel and an iced coffee. This was a great interview and Peelander Yellow was more than happy to talk about his love for fishing. I think you will enjoy this group take a listen and enjoy.

SXSW Interview with Hey Chica!

by on May.26, 2012, under Folk, Rock

Hey Chica is one of the friendliest bands you will ever meet. If I ever head to Mexico I am hiring them all as my tour guides and we will explore far and wide. Hey Chica is from Guadalajara and have very unique perspectives of the drug war Americans often hear about on the nightly news. They also have fantastic shoes! Take a listen to our conversation and enjoy!

SXSW Interview with Gypsy Blood

by on May.23, 2012, under Rock

Like a majority of my interviews this was very impromptu. I ran into Gypsy Blood, down on 6th Street in Austin, this past March and we discussed life and even had the pleasure of being joined in song by one of the homeless fellows (who was not a hotspot).

SXSW Interview with Housse De Racket

by on May.12, 2012, under Rock

My first interview during SXSW was with Pierre and Victor of Housse De Racket. They are an incredible duo out of Paris France with fantastic stories to tell. Besides being a great band they are also thoughtful. A few weeks after I had interviewed them I received and e-mail from their tour manager, in order to put me on the list for their show at the Magic Stick during their stop in Detroit on their American Tour. The concert was great. Take a listen to my interview with them and check out their music!

SXSW Interview with Hot Fox

by on May.12, 2012, under Rock

On my last day in Austin for SXSW 2012 I was grabbing a quick slice of pizza before meeting my next interview, and saw this young group of musicians also eating pizza. I asked them if they would like do an interview and was pleasantly surprised with the fantastic stories these young gents had. Take a listen and enjoy!
