The first time I heard of Offendum was, on the big homie Big A’s album, on the song “Te-Le-Le-Vision”. Then this past March my friend Saman called me, from the concert “Gaza Strip to Detroit”, trying to locate  a studio so all the fantastic artists at this event could collaborate (including Omar Offendum). Throughout the course of the Arab Spring I have been following many sources in and outside the Middle East on Twitter, and many of them are huge supporters of Omar Offendum. This dude is everywhere for a good reason. Finally this summer I decided I needed to speak with this dude so we arranged to meet, at the Arab American Museum in Dearborn this September, before his concert. In this interview we talk about everything between Syria and architecture and then some. Take a listen and enjoy!

One of the cool parts of being a radio DJ and interviewing 100′s of people is you get some surprises along the way. About a week before I left Michigan I decided to get my nap on, like I usually do. When I woke up I had a missed call from Big A. So I check my voicemail and it said 3 minutes. I at first was going to just assume Big A’s pocket called me… you know all about that. So I listened just in case the homie Big A was just really long winded and too my surprise look what I found…. I love being a radio DJ!

This was one of my favorite interviews I have ever done. Do not sleep on the homie Big A! He attributes learning English to his study of Hip-Hop as a youth in Lebanon. Anyone who thinks they know something about Detroit rap music, you don’t know anything until you have listened to Big A. You all need to be taking notes (Big A was taking notes while I was interviewing him… that’s hustle).
