As I was preparing to interview Sugar Glyder for the third time I realized that I never archived our last conversation. Here is the interview I did with them back in 2011, in Austin, at SXSW. There are some incredible stories about touring that begin about eight minutes in. I really enjoy this interview and I believe you will too.

I met Dan (bass playing Dan) on the bus coming home one night. We started talking and I found out he was in an awesome group from England and that they were going to be playing a bunch of shows the next day for all of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Austin. I specifically remember telling him that is I didn’t hear from him the next morning I was going to hit up hit publicist to get an interview with the band. Before I got off the bus Dan got into an awesome verbal battle with one of the Austin natives and began exchanging “yo mama” insults. The next day we were able to meet up and since the day that week I have seen these guys traveling all across America. Take a listen and enjoy!

I ran into a group a guys wearing pink jackets on the streets of Austin hauling around luggage. So I thought to myself, “hey let’s see if they are in a band.” My intuitions were wrong, they were actually in a comedy troupe. The Weekend Pilots were actually pretty amusing and they do not curse once because of their love affair with George Carlin. Take a listen and enjoy!

My first interview during SXSW was with Pierre and Victor of Housse De Racket. They are an incredible duo out of Paris France with fantastic stories to tell. Besides being a great band they are also thoughtful. A few weeks after I had interviewed them I received and e-mail from their tour manager, in order to put me on the list for their show at the Magic Stick during their stop in Detroit on their American Tour. It was like 3 AM, and I’m get off the exit to fill up and use the restroom, on my way home from Austin. I run into these guys, who are also coming home from Austin, and we do an interview. This is the second gas station interview of my life and I have a feeling it won’t be my last.

I saw a dude standing on a corner with a pile of instruments. Therefore I interviewed him.

What can I say this was one of the freshest interviews of my whole trip to Austin. Literally, the conversation was fly. I guess they really do live up to the title “Flying Without Wingz”. Much like the picture posted below we sat on the ground for the entire interview, in a dried up puddle of urine… gross.

This was also unexpected. I was able to speak briefly with Danny Brown. If I had the opportunity again I have a million more questions I would ask him.

This was the interview I least expected but prize the most from my trip to SXSW this year. I got to interview One Be Lo and Senim Silla together on the streets of Austin Texas! Besides a great interview I had an awesome in depth discussion with Senim about race. Without ruining anything I will shut up and let you take a listen. Enjoy!
